Connect first, teach second.
Before we can expect students to learn to their greatest potential, we must first create time and space to develop positive relationships with each of our students.
Student Centered Learning Spaces
Classrooms should not be cut and paste. They should be welcoming and flexible to meet the needs of the students and their learning styles.
Active Learning and Critical Thinking
Everyone learns best when they are engaged and active in their learning experiences. It is important to me to try new strategies and techniques that challenge traditional education practices by creating opportunities for experiential and inquiry learning.
We are all learners
My students teach me as much as I teach them. I strive to always be learning and developing my own practices in education and skills, modelling life-long learning for my students.
Who am I outside of school?
My family moved to Brandon when I was seven and I grew up in the central part of the city. We have always been a tight-knit group of four! My dad has a visual impairment which in part guides my interest in inclusivity.
My partner, Alex, and I met during our undergraduate degrees. We are both pursuing careers in education. We enjoy going for hikes, bike rides, and cooking together.
I am a competitive Irish dancer and instructor. I most recently competed at the 2023 North American Open Championships and am working towards my teacher certification.
Books, books, books!
